Tripp Trapp: a High Chair Built to Last

I can't believe I haven't blogged yet about one of my favorite baby products: Stokke's Tripp Trapp High Chair! There are a lot of stylish, innovative high chairs out there (Bloom's Fresco High Chair and Boon's Flair High Chair come to mind) but my personal favorite is the Tripp Trapp.

First of all, it's a really clean, simple design. It's definitely not what I first think of when I hear the words "high chair". It would look great in a modern home or a beach cottage. And while it does come in some bright, cheery colors, it's also available in classic wood finishes that will compliment any interior. Plus Stokke offers some really adorable cushions so you can further personalize your Tripp Trapp.

Second, the seat and footrest are adjustable so that you can ensure a comfortable, customized fit for baby. I'm short so I know how uncomfortable it can be not to have your legs at right angles when you're sitting down. Being able to set the footrest where it will be most comfortable for your baby will keep baby from fidgeting while in the high chair.

Third, just like so many of my favorite cribs, it's convertible! Again, this goes back to the adjustable seat and footrest. This chair isn't just for babies. As your child grows the Tripp Trapp High Chair can be used as a desk chair or even an extra seat for when guests come over. There are so many ways to repurpose this chair for babies up through adults.

Four, and best of all, it brings baby and the family together. The Tripp Trapp High Chair can be pulled right up to the dinner table so baby can eat with everyone else. It's so important to bring the family together at the dinner table, and Stokke makes it possible for baby to join in the fun right away.

So I guess you can tell how much I love this product but now at least you know why. Check out Stokke's other innovative, convertible baby products at CSN Baby.

Love, Want, Need: Serena and Lily Crib Bedding

I've got big news for all you stylish moms out there: CSN Baby is now carrying Serena and Lily crib bedding!

Serena and Lily is my new favorite crib bedding line. I love that their designs are sweet without being saccharine. The collections feature crisp stripes, polka dots and embroidery. If themed baby bedding isn't your style, then this might be the bedding for you.

They also have a lot of designs that are more unisex, which I really appreciate. One of my favorites is the Carter Collection (shown here). Yellow and green are two of my favorite nursery colors, and they're hard to find in a design that is cute for a boy or a girl. But don't worry, there are still plenty of girlie collections (like the Greta Collection, which I also love) and boyish collections to choose from.

Jennifer Garner and Britney Spears are big fans of Serena and Lily, which Danielle at Celebrity Baby Blog reported on back in 2006. Britney is reported to have purchased the Henry Collection and Jennifer had hers custom designed just for Violet. Maybe the celebrity fans tipped you off to the fact that this bedding doesn't come cheap. But it's unique, beautiful, well made, and could easily become a family heirloom.

Yet another reason to love this company is that they are dedicated to giving back to the community to help moms and children in need. They work with several philanthropic partners and are dedicated to their social mission.

Co-sleeping Compromise

Maybe my head's been stuck in the sand for a while (likely) but it seems like all of a sudden co-sleeping is getting a lot of attenion. For those of you who don't know, co-sleeping refers to the practice of parents sleeping with their child, usually for the first few months.

Some people are strong supporters and say that co-sleeping makes it easier for mom to get some sleep and also to adjust to her baby's sleep cycle. It also encourages breast feeding and can help baby's fall asleep faster. Even celebrities are starting to give it a try. For example, Missy at Celebrity Baby Blog recently reported that Myleene Klass, a British pop star, co-sleeps with her newborn baby and husband.

Despite these possible advantages, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns parents against this practice because it puts babies at risk of suffocation and strangulation. Kids Health for Parents has some useful information regarding the pros and cons of co-sleeping.

If you are trying to decide whether or not to co-sleep with your baby, you should consider a co-sleeper by Arm's Reach. Another celebrity, Poppy Montgomery recently told Sarah at Celebrity Baby Blog that she has an Arm's Reach Co-sleeper for her new baby, Jackson.

Co-sleepers offer a wonderful compromise for parents who want to keep baby close but are concerned about the safety hazards attributed to co-sleeping. The co-sleeper attaches to your bed under the mattress and is securely strapped into place. It works with twin, full, queen, king and California King adult beds and the standard size co-sleeper can hold one or two babies comfortably. Other available accessories include an extra fitted sheet, leg extensions, and canopy.

If your worried about cost, the Mini Co-sleeper is under $130 and can be converted into a free-standing bassinet, changer or toy box.

A Contemporary Baby Rocker

So once my sister eventually has a baby I know exactly what I'm going to get her: the Coco Baby Lounger by Bloom. It's perfect for people like my sister and her husband, who have a very strong sense of their own decorating style and want baby's nursery to complement that style. Plus it's really really cool. It almost looks like a piece of sculpture, doesn't it?

I think Bloom has done a wonderful job of blending contemporary, European design with baby-friendly functionality in the Coco Baby Lounger. The frame is built in a single, streamlined piece. I love its simplicity, which I find so soothing compared to some other rockers on the market. It also has a smooth, self-rocking motion that will lull baby to sleep.

The seat is like a little, snuggly nest. It's available in either micro-suede or leatherette. I felt the micro-suede myself and it's very soft--even softer than I expected. A five point harness ensures that baby is safe and secure. The harness is padded for comfort and adjustable to accomodate your growing baby.

The seat is available in several colors and the base is available in Clear plexistyle material, or either Cappuccino or Henna Brown stylewood material. With so many options, you can customize the rocker to compliment your decor. Honestly, my style is more traditional but I love this rocker and I think with the right color and frame combination it would fit in with any decor--even mine!

The Coco Baby Lounger is a well crafted, beautifully designed rocker that would make a thoughtful gift or an attractive addition to your own nursery. Take a look at Bloom's other innovative baby products including their incredible high chairs at CSN Baby.
